This was a commissioned piece to embroider a floral garden weaving in and out of the Thrasher logo.
Upon winning a campus-wide art proposal competition, I designed a tapestry piece that functions as a typographic homage to the architect behind UMass Dartmouth’s buildings, Paul Rudolph. The digitally printed collage is layered on its surface with botanical illustrations and embroidered words that describe Rudolph’s vision. Along with that, there are motifs that playfully acknowledge a few campus urban legends about the famous architect.
The work conveys a sense of Rudolph’s ideals and accomplishments, and simultaneously builds a dialogue between students, faculty, and the everyday passerby to discuss and admire the campus’s design and history.

This project involves screen-printing using a variety of techniques and processes. Featuring block printing, traditional printing, and hand-painting watercolor printing, the final product subtly emphasizes the disappearance of the honeybee population and their habitats.
